This is why we’re building CoachSync
4 min read
Problem
After years in the Olympic weightlifting community, we’ve witnessed a frustrating paradox. The coaches who produce world-class athletes spend countless hours crafting individualized programs in spreadsheets, while their innovative methodologies remain trapped in Excel cells. Your typical week involves copying templates, adjusting percentages, tracking athlete feedback, and manually calculating periodization adjustments - all while juggling multiple athletes across different training phases.
We’ve observed that existing coaching platforms are built by software companies that don’t understand the nuances of periodization, or by coaches who lack the technical expertise to create truly intelligent systems. The result? Tools that force you to work around their limitations rather than enhancing your coaching philosophy.
Solution
So we asked ourselves: what if we could capture the expertise of elite coaches and make it accessible to everyone? Inspired by how AI transformed other creative fields, we embarked on building an AI-powered coaching platform specifically for Olympic weightlifting. Our goal is to help coaches create better programs faster, learn from collective expertise, and serve as an intelligent assistant that understands the sport as deeply as they do.
CoachSync doesn’t replace coaches - it amplifies their impact. Whether you’re programming for your first athlete or managing a team preparing for nationals, our AI learns your style and helps you scale your expertise without sacrificing quality.
Our approach
The CoachSync team is comprised of world class coaches and developers. We’ve also reached out and spent months collaborating with other elite coaches, analyzing hundreds of successful programs, and understanding what makes Olympic weightlifting programming unique. Unlike generic fitness platforms, CoachSync speaks your language - it knows the difference between a power position and a hang position, understands why you’d program complexes before singles, and respects the delicate balance of technical work and strength development.
Every feature we build starts with a simple question: “Would this help Greg Everett program more effectively?” If the answer isn’t an emphatic yes, we go back to the drawing board.
Open development
We believe the best coaching tools are built with coaches, not for them. That’s why we’re committed to building in public, sharing our progress, and incorporating feedback from the weightlifting community at every step. Whether it’s through beta testing sessions, coaching consultations, or open-sourcing parts of our system, transparency isn’t just a value - it’s how we ensure we’re solving real problems.
Our early beta testers have already helped us refine everything from exercise naming conventions to periodization models. This collaborative approach will continue as we grow, because the collective wisdom of the coaching community will always exceed what any single team can achieve.
The future
We envision a world where every weightlifting coach, regardless of experience level, can create programs with the sophistication of national team coaches. Where athletes receive individualized guidance that adapts to their progress. Where the barriers between elite coaching knowledge and grassroots development disappear.
This isn’t just about software - it’s about elevating the entire sport of Olympic weightlifting by empowering the coaches who make it possible.
Best regards, founders
